Imagine waking up every day, doing the same thing over and over hoping something will change. All in the name of consistency gives results. The idea of putting so much hope on something or someone, and painting an image of a future of an outcome we’ve imagined, with the hopes of what if, just what if… this happened. Imagine! What if you knew that it wasn’t going to be that way? That our thoughts of our future are just an illusion and all you have is the present. What if how things are currently, is how it will be for the rest of your life, would you be satisfied? Would you be happy knowing that?
I feel like hope paints such a beautiful picture, it lies to us. As much as it gives us motivation to keep going, it robs us off of our current opportunity. We live on hopes of potential while opportunities pass us by. We waste our opportunities and don’t act on them because at the back of our mind, we lie to ourselves that we want that future that we’ve planted in our minds, hoping that when we get there we will be happier. So much that it is all we look forward to; not really caring or being mindful of what’s happening now. What if this is it, and we’re wasting it all because we’re living in a fantasy of a better tomorrow and yet, tomorrow may never come or when it does, we look back at what we had and wish he had it now? If you think about it, what if we end up doing what is romanticizing over the past or future but we never really experience the present as we should.
So how do we get to the point of being satisfied? How do we get to accepting what we have by fully allowing ourselves to be happy in the present? How do we train our minds, because five years ago if you asked me what I would have thought of my life five years from then…? This is not the picture I painted. If I knew then what I knew now, would I live my life differently? Would I make different choices? Is there something I can apply to my life now knowing that, so that five years into my future I will be speaking of a different story?
All I can say is, let’s not waste the opportunities we have now. If you think about it, our life is constantly changing or staying the same based on what we allow. Imagine if we take advantage of all the opportunities that come our way, we could be so much further ahead. But what is opportunity? How do we even recognize an opportunity when our minds are so caught up in wishful thinking? We end up doing nothing about it. If we are not constantly alert, then all we’re really doing is wasting opportunity, and we don’t really want to live our lives like that. Do we?

Nonetheless, because of just what I have experienced, I just simply hope as the reviews pack on that individuals stay on point and not start upon a soap box of some other news of the day. Yet, thank you for this exceptional point and whilst I can not concur with the idea in totality, I respect the viewpoint.
